ABOUT
AZÓCAR CATRÓN is the architecture studio of Ricardo Azócar and Carolina Catrón, founded in Concepción, south of Chile, in 2016. Together they explore the boundaries between architecture, art, landscape, and urban strategies through public works, books, exhibitions, and teaching.
Ricardo Azócar is an architect from the Universidad del Bío-Bío, Chile, and holds a Master's degree in Theory, History, and Culture of Architecture from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain.
Carolina Catrón is an architect and holds a Master's degree from the Universidad del Bío-Bío, Chile, and is a PhD (c) in Architecture and Urbanism at the UBB and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya Spain.
Their work has been recognized with the Young Architect Award from the Chilean College of Architects (Catrón, 2025), the New Generations Award at the XVII Costa Rica International Architecture Biennial (2024), the MA Emerging Award, Chile (2023); the First Prize at Arquine No. 23, Mexico (2021), the Best Young Practices Award from ArchDaily (2020), the Distinguished Work Award at the XXI Architecture and Urbanism Biennial of Chile (2019), Finalist at Young Architects in Latin America, XVI Venice Architecture Biennale, Italy (2018) and the Breakthrough Work Award from the Concepción College of Architects, Chile (2016), among others.
